Ending Domestic Violence
The Asian Pacific Fund aids those who need help getting back on their feet and helps you learn about hidden community needs. This area has so much physical beauty that sometimes, it’s easy to overlook the suffering around us. Yet, there are so many people who live in fear in the very place they should feel safest—their homes. Domestic violence is a problem that affects all Asian ethnic groups, and what makes it so difficult to fix is that the violence takes place behind closed doors. Victims are often afraid to speak up, and many times, it’s even harder to get help when you’re an immigrant and you’re poor. But help is out there. And it’s the first critical step on the road to a better life—-one with security and peace of mind.

Helping Youth Overcome Challenges
Asian cultures place a high premium on their children and how they turn out, but equally important is how these children are doing along the way. Growing Up Asian in America has become a powerful and effective way for us to unearth and take action on issues affecting our young people. Students share with us their hopes and fears, their interests and needs. Not only did this art and essay contest draw out their voices, but as their problems, issues and concerns were revealed, we listened…and then set out to support programs that would help not only these particular students, but the many others who remain silent and are struggling with the same issues every day.

Launching Donor Initiatives
The Asian Pacific Fund is pro-active on issues and responds to the interest of donors, building a foundation for the future. We have a deep commitment to donors and help them implement their vision. We help them with program design, and sometimes we actually run the programs. Examples of new donor initiatives include the Banatao Filipino American Education Fund, started by Maria and Dado Banatao, and the Tina Yeh Memorial Fund, which supports a Yale Asian Alumni Association fellowship program.
