Shui Kuen and Allen Chin Scholarship

General Information

The Shui Kuen and Allen Chin Scholarship was established by the children of Shui Kuen and Allen Chin to honor the values of their parents. To transform the tragic death of their father Allen Chin into something positive, the children started this scholarship program. They would like to support undergraduate and graduate students who have worked at an Asian restaurant (Asian-owned or Asian cuisine) or have parents who worked or are working at one. One scholarship of $1,000 is offered each year.

Criteria

  • Current full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Has worked or is currently working at an Asian restaurant (Asian-owned or Asian cuisine) or has at least one parent who has worked or is working at one
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Preference will be given to students doing community service for the Asian American community
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
