Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship

The Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship was established by a private donor in honor of the donor's parents Helen and L.S. Wong to provide educational opportunities for students of Asian heritage from Fairfield and Suisun high schools. The donor would like to support practical and focused students in pursuing an undergraduate degree.

General Information

Two $3,000 and two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to qualified seniors from Fairfield and Suisun high schools who will be attending four-year colleges and universities, or community colleges (with a strong commitment to transferring to a four-year institution). Each of these four scholarships is renewable at a lesser amount for a total of four years on the basis of satisfactory academic performance. In this scholarship program’s initial years, a number of $500 to $1,000 one-time grants will be awarded as well. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Criteria

  • Current senior at a Fairfield or Suisun high school graduating in June 2008
  • Asian heritage
  • Attending a four-year college or university or a community college (with a strong commitment to transfer to a four-year institution) in Fall 2008
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Award based on merit and financial need
  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
