The Asian Pacific Fund makes grants from discretionary funds to Bay Area organizations with programs in the following areas:
- Services for youth or the elderly
- Health and human services
- Education (not including private schools)
- Immigrantion and legal services
- Economic development
- Environmental conservation
- Culture and the arts
In addition to providing additional resources to solve community problems, the Asian Pacific Fund provides services to strengthen community agencies. This work includes research, public education and technical workshops, especially in areas that assist local organizations with fundraising and organizational development.
One in five Asian Americans has no health insurance.
One-third of Asian American high school students smoke cigarettes.
One in seven Asian Americans has less than a high school degree.
Asians have the highest suicide rate among all elderly women.
Nearly one in two Asians will have difficulty accessing mental health treatment because they do not speak English well.
