The Asian Pacific Fund specializes in monitoring emerging and urgent needs in the Bay Area Asian community. Here are our 2002-2003 grants:

Job Training and Placement Responding to Economic Trends


Summary of Need

Responding to a bleak job market and rising unemployment rates earlier this year, we made grants totaling $74,000 to support job training and job placement services for Asians.

Charity Cultural Services Center (San Francisco) -- $15,000
Chinese for Affirmative Action (San Francisco) -- $15,000
Lao Family Community Development, Inc. (Richmond) -- $15,000
Narika (Berkeley) - $14,000
Southeast Asian Community Center (in partnership with the Vietnamese Community Development Inc., Alameda) -- $15,000



Immigration and Naturalization Services


Summary of Need

To offset deep cuts that many citizenship programs have experienced, we granted $101,000 to sustain naturalization services and legal representation for immigrants. Some funds were allocated to agencies advocating on behalf of legal immigrants facing deportation.
